On February 22, 2009, Philadelphia Newspapers, LLC and certain affiliates (together, "Philadelphia Newspapers" or the "Debtors") filed voluntary petitions to reorganize under chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania (the "Bankruptcy Court"). Philadelphia Newspapers' chapter 11 cases have been assigned to the Honorable Jean K. FitzSimon and are being jointly administered under case number 09-11204 (JKF). Philadelphia Newspapers' bankruptcy counsel is Dilworth Paxson LLP and Proskauer Rose LLP, as co-counsel. Their restructuring advisors are Alvarez & Marsal. The Filing of Proofs of Claim
On April 21, 2009, the Bankruptcy Court entered an order (the "Bar Date Order") establishing (i) May 26, 2009, at 5:00 p.m. (prevailing Eastern Time) as the last date and time for all entities that have or assert any pre-petition unsecured or secured, priority or non priority claims, or administrative expense claims against the Debtors to file proofs of claim based on claims that arose before February 22, 2009, the date on which the Debtors commenced their Chapter 11 cases and (ii) August 21, 2009, at 5:00 p.m. (prevailing Eastern Time) as the last date and time for governmental units to file proofs of claim against the Debtors.
